Facebook will soon start TikTok like ads on Instagram Reels

The concept of TikTok or short videos has popularized, and while the Facebook-delicious clone, Instagram Reels, is close, it is gaining tremendous success in countries like India, where ticket ok was actually banned by the government. Instagram has over 120 million monthly active users in India, and a large portion of them are reels users.

Instagram ads can currently be found in many places within the app, on your feed, and when tapping your stories. Instagram reels have been relatively ad-free at least for now, as Facebook is looking to lend itself to the ever-growing popularity of reels, especially in India where major competitor tickets are not available.

Even though they will beat Ticket Ok Kane in their own game like they beat Snapchat with Stories is something else we’ll see the next day, Facebook thinks Reels is becoming strong enough to make ads profitable, according to a new Reuters scoop.

The ads will work just like regular reels and last up to 30 seconds. And just like other Instagram ads, you’ll be able to choose the categories where your ad will show. Facebook has also said that it plans to make more features available to Indian users, such as allowing users and content creators to share reels on Facebook.

What does this mean for you right now? If you are in India (or any of the other markets mentioned above), you can expect ads to come in reels in the next few weeks. While this is a test right now, it shouldn’t be too long until this change comes globally.
