Amazon’s next game, New World has now pushed back to August 31

As we go deeper into 2021, the harsh reality unfolds for gamers, the big delays are huge. In our 2011 estimates, we found that this was a very real possibility due to the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

That concern is rapidly becoming a reality. Delays are falling to the left and right, as some of the biggest games of the year move in line or next year. This will lead to a much thinner release schedule‌ than what fans initially thought was an exciting year for gaming. Here is a roundup of all the major video game delays that have occurred so far.

Although less related to COVID-19 than the other games on this list, Amazon is not immune to the current game delay wave. The company has been trying to break into gaming with weak results for some time. Its free-to-play multiplayer game Crucible has a unique rock life, when it was put back into beta and later completely canceled.

Amazon’s next game, New World is also facing similar issues. The game, which was originally scheduled to launch this spring, has now been pushed back to August 31.

Amazon said it made the decision to have a proper endgame when the game started, so the studio is trying to avoid the same damage that Marvel’s suffered when it started. The closed beta for the game will now open on July 20th.
