CD Projekt Red games Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 source code leaked on hacker forum

Earlier this week, CD Projekt Red, the developer of “Cyberpunk 2077,” announced that they had been hacked and a large number of internal files were stolen by hackers. After the hackers have failed to demand a ransom from CDPR, it seems that they have decided to auction the data files they have. These data include the source code of many masterpieces of CDPR.

According to a report, hackers who hacked into CDPR showed up on Exploit, on a Russian hacker forum. The information shared on the forum shows that a user named red engine claimed to have the source code of “Cyberpunk 2077”, “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” (including the original and the upcoming Light Chase version), and “The Fall of Kings – Legend of The Witcher”.

The hacker also stated that he had several internal documents on hand, plus something that semantically implied that CDPR was “illegal.” However, the CDPR side assured me yesterday that no employee’s personal information was leaked.

The hackers are about to launch an auction, with a starting price of $1 million, but some in the hacker circle question whether the things they have on hand are worth this price. And some people in the Exploit forum post said that before the matter progressed to this point, these data could not say that they could get 7 million US dollars at a time.

Just like the hacking of Capcom last year, part of the data stolen from CDPR has begun to appear online. A deleted post on the 4chan forum provided a link to download the source code of “Gwent Card of the Witcher”, but the authenticity has not been verified.

CDPR previously stated that it will not negotiate with hackers for transactions something that semantically implied that CDPR was “illegal.” However, the CDPR side assured that no employee’s personal information was leaked.
