E3 online portal and app officially revealed: Here’s how the virtual show will work

Following months of specs, the Entertainment Software Association has finally revealed how the E3 2021 works. The virtual event is centered around an app that acts as an online portal for the event.

ESA confirmed the details of the incident in a new blog post. Although this is the first full-digital presentation of the exhibition, the online portal is trying to bridge the gap by providing many of the key experiences of the Expo.

The show is scheduled to run from Saturday, June 12 to Tuesday, June 15. The E3 app will open to the media on June 7, with the public version going live on June 12. Free registration will open later this month.

This app has virtual exhibitor booths that provide special events and videos. These usually replace the physical booths that line the Expo Halls. The online hub also includes lounges and forums, which serve as social platforms where fans can connect and chat.

Social interaction is a staple at this year’s show. Attendees create their own custom profiles through the app. The event has been simplified and there will be “leaderboards” where fans can compete.

After all, the app has a live stream. The show still airs on all E3’s major social channels, including Twitch and YouTube.

In addition, the primary hubs to watch the E3 2021 broadcast (outside of the portal and app) include:

E3’s Twitch Channel: https://www.twitch.tv/e3

E3’s YouTube Channel: http://www.youtube.com/e3

E3’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/E3

E3’s Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/E3Expo/

So far, it seems that previous reports that there will be a sort of paywall in this show have been dismissed. The ESA previously wrote on E3’s Twitter account, denying claims that “E3’s 2021 digital show is a free event for all attendees.”
