We are constantly improving the experience to help many of our customers enjoy their favorite songs and podcasts more easily. So today, we are offering three updates for Spotify on iOS and Android: increased readability features, text resizing options and beta for podcast transcripts.
First, the auto podcast transcription feature. Spotify selects it as a limited beta for “Spotify Original and Exclusive Podcasts on iOS and Android”.
The new feature automatically generates transcripts for these displays, allowing users to read text on their phone with or without audio for specific podcasts. Users can quickly scroll through and navigate through specific episodes and click on any written paragraph to start playing from that time on.
Spotify notes that its long-term goal is to bring auto-transcripts to all podcasts on the platform. But to get started, a limited beta is coming “in the coming weeks”.
The iOS and Android apps are also getting update buttons. Spotify says they are designed to be less focused and better for blind users:
Today, you can see some changes in these buttons in terms of color, text formatting and size. Our goal is to make it easier for visually impaired and visually impaired users to locate and connect these functions when using Spotify on their phones. The update helps users in situations with low light or high screen reflections. Also, changing the text formatting from all caps creates more space for translation or localization of more than 60 languages currently supported by Spotify.
Here’s how it works:
Finally, the iOS app will get even more control over the text size when heading to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size.
The Spotify app already reflects a slight change in the so-called dynamic type of system-wide text size. With the latest access updates, we’re giving users more control over the text, improving overall navigation in the app, and giving listeners a more personalized experience. Users can adjust their text size under settings via iOS to suit their specific visual needs and preferences.
