Just recently, according to WABetaInfo, the popular messaging app is set to bring more security to the chat backup feature through a new feature called “End-to-End Encrypted Backup”.

After using end-to-end encryption, the backup of the chat history will be protected by a private password to prevent unauthorized use on Google Drive. It is noteworthy that WhatsApp has allowed users to use end-to-end encrypted chat.

To understand it in a better way, the source provided us screenshots of the user interface for this feature. As per the image, WhatsApp added a status that states whether the backup is encrypted using end-to-end encryption.

Please note that WhatsApp is currently developing an end-to-end backup feature to select Android beta testers. If the history is any indication, this function will be available with future updates soon.
