A few months ago, OnePlus launched its first mid-range smartphone, OnePlus Nord with the Google Message and Google Phone app instead of the OnePlus Messages and Contacts app. The company continued presenting these apps in its next devices also.
As the users were fond of OnePlus’s apps, many of them were not really happy with these changes and have reported on the forum while some users were supporting Google’s apps because of their extra features and better security.
Now, you can install and set as default the OnePlus Messages and Contacts apps on your Nord smartphone. These apps are compatible with both the OnePlus and non-OnePlus phones. As discussed on the official forum, the Messages app works perfectly fine but it’s not same with the Contacts app.
Do follow the steps to set the Messaging app as default:
- Go to Settings
- Apps and Notifications
- Default apps
- SMS app
NOTE: These apps are developed for Android 10 or above only.
