WhatsApp to let users sync their devices more effectively

WhatsApp to drop support for iOS 10 and iOS 11 devices after October 24

A few days ago, WhatsApp rolled out a new beta update for Android application with version 2.21.9.7. The updated changelog shows that the company is developing the chat history migration function between Android and iOS.

However, the Facebook-owned company did not share information on how to migrate the chat history, although it is expected to transfer to Google Drive. There are still questions about what happens when the chat history is moved to another device.

At the same time, WABetaInfo has provided new information, indicating that WhatsApp is working on a new feature to allow users to synchronize natively with linked devices. This feature comes with the latest WhatsApp beta 2.2.10.6. When the chat history is migrated to another phone, the phone allows the connected phone to synchronize with each other.

Reportedly,  “This is needed when you do some chat actions, for example pinning a chat, starring a message, or any other background service related to multi-device functionalities. When WhatsApp, on your current device, is syncing with WhatsApp on another device (having the same WhatsApp account), a notification will be presented.”

  • Deleting a chat on a device won’t remove the same chat on another device.
  • Deleting a specific message for everyone will delete it on any linked device.
  • Deleting a specific message for you won’t delete it on linked devices.
