YouTube mobile app has now added further options beyond incremental options and auto resolutions

YouTube introduces timed emoji reactions for Android and iOS users

If you’re disappointed with the level of control offered by the YouTube mobile app in terms of video resolution, the addition of more specific options would be very appreciated.

The latest server-side update to the YouTube mobile app has now added additional options and more options in addition to auto toe resolution. Previously, the auto toe option was the only secondary choice you could make beyond the “advanced” or additional options.

The newer video resolution controls allow you to prioritize “higher picture quality”, which, as you might expect, uses more data or a “data saver” that can be used to stream videos/videos while streaming videos on the YouTube mobile app.

Obviously, when playing, the video quality will change depending on the status of your network or data connection. In our high-brief test, the “high picture quality” mode captures in 720p. The “data saver” will come to the top at 480p, but may be as low as the very low 144p resolution presented.

You’re able to choose from the YouTube App Settings section the same option you want to default the video streaming app when running mobile and Wi-Fi networks. On top of that, when playing video, you can always use the “Advanced” tab to select a specific video playback resolution – from 144p to 4K UHD.
