YouTube testing autoplay video preview with sound on Android TV

YouTube introduces timed emoji reactions for Android and iOS users

YouTube is testing an autoplay video preview feature for Android TV and Google TV. It automatically plays a highlighted video preview on your Android TV with sound for a few seconds.

However, it will not play the full Youtube videos, just show the preview of some part or clip of the YouTube video on your Android TV or Google TV. The video will continue to play from the point you selected when you watch it. Unlike Android TV, in smartphones and desktop devices, YouTube videos start playing from start to end.

It’s so annoying that your YouTube homepage is full of previews, especially if you turn up your volume and aren’t expecting it. However, this feature is enabled by default so you’ll have to manually disable it. Below you can check the steps (via 9to5Google) to disable autoplay video preview on YouTube for Android TV and Google TV.

How to disable autoplay video preview?

To disable autoplay video preview is very simple.

  • Firstly, head on the sidebar.
  • Open YouTube Settings.
  • Here you find Preview with sound option.
  • Click on it. Then you can turn Off this feature.

At the moment, it is unclear whether the company will roll out this option widely or not. Till then stay tuned with us.
