Samsung ranked second in terms of online smartphone sales in Russia in Q4 2020

Samsung was the second-largest brand in Russia’s online smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2020.  However, Xiaomi seems to have exceeded Samsung in online smartphone sales in the Russian market.

According to the data compiled by Counterpoint Research, the South Korean tech giant Samsung accounted for 27 percent of online smartphone shipments in Russia in the last three months of 2020, following from 24.9 percent a year ago.

While Xiaomi has sold 31 percent of its smartphones in the online market, ranking first in this segment. Thanks to the best-selling iPhone 12 series, Apple entered the top three in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Even though the total smartphone sales in the Russian market decreased by 11% year-on-year, but online smartphone sales improved, a 35% of total sales in the country are online smartphone sales. Despite the epidemic last year, the average selling price of smartphones in Russia increased to $258.

The other smartphone brand Huawei dropped from first to fourth place due to US sanctions. Its share of the online smartphone market dropped to 14.8 percent from 31.2 percent last year.
