South Korean semiconductor exports reached USD 11.61 billion in May 2022

According to the latest report, South Korea, which is home to two major semiconductor product manufacturers, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, is an important supplier of semiconductor products in the world, and semiconductors are also an important export commodity of South Korea.

Moreover, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Science, Information and Communication Technology of South Korea, South Korea’s semiconductor exports in May amounted to US$11.61 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.9%, and exceeded US$10 billion for 13 consecutive months of May.

In addition to semiconductors, South Korea is also an important panel supplier in the world, with two major panel suppliers, Samsung Display and LG Display. Korean panel exports in May were US$1.82 billion, up 2.4% year-on-year.

Driven by the steady demand for semiconductors and panels, South Korea’s exports of information and communication technology products in May also increased significantly year-on-year, reaching US$20.2 billion, up from US$17.73 billion in the same period last year.

The export value of information and communication technology products was the highest in May. Although exports increased and hit a new high in May, South Korea’s imports of ICT products also surged 19.8% to $12.61 billion in May.
