Wafer foundry UMC’s May revenue grown by 7.18% month-on-month: Report

According to the latest report, UMC’s revenue in May reached NT$24.433 billion, a record high for 8 consecutive months. Benefiting from the strong demand from customers such as image signal processors and communications, UMC’s production capacity continued to be fully loaded, and revenue in May increased by 7.18% month-on-month and 42.14% year-on-year.


Moreover, UMC’s revenue in April and May totaled NT$47.229 billion (approximately RMB 10.721 billion). The legal person expects that UMC’s revenue target for the second quarter should be successfully achieved, with quarterly revenue exceeding NT$66 billion, and it is expected to continue to hit a new high in a single quarter.

Moreover, UMC expects that wafer shipments in the second quarter are expected to increase by 4% to 5%, the average selling price of products will increase by 3% to 4%, and the gross profit margin will reach 45%. The legal person estimates that UMC’s revenue in the second quarter is expected to increase by 4% to 9% from the previous quarter.

In addition to the increase in the average selling price of products, the legal person said that the expansion of the production capacity of 10,000 wafers in the P5 plant of UMC Nanke’s wafer 12A plant is also the main driving force for UMC’s second-quarter performance to record highs.
