Apple and LG to develop displays for upcoming foldable iPhones

Apple is working on introducing its first-ever foldable iPhones and is in search of the technologies that will make them stand out from the other foldable. The leaks and rumors regarding the folding iPhone have started to come and we have already received some information for those in the past.

According to the latest news from DigiTimes states that Apple has recently commissioned LG Display, a major Korean display manufacturer, to develop a foldable panel. This will be the first step of the Cupertino-based giant towards the fold iPhones.

According to industry insiders, LG Display will assist Apple in developing a foldable OLED display panel for the iPhone. However, it is unclear whether LG Display will provide this display panel for Apple or whether it can be mass-produced.

In addition, Samsung Display is also a supplier of Apple’s OLED folding display. Earlier, it was reported that Samsung provided Apple with a large number of foldable display samples for testing last year. Therefore, it is unclear what the specific supplier of Apple’s folding iPhone is.

Apple has so far used OLED panels developed by LG Display and Samsung Display for iPhone, and even BOE has joined the iPhone 12 series suppliers. It is not ruled out that this rumored foldable iPhone may be provided by multiple vendors with panels.
