Apple iOS 17 adds most requested ‘Pronoun Fields’ in Contacts app

Apple iOS 17 is the house of surprising elements that boosts the overall user experience of the device, and one of them is the Pronoun Fields which is introduced in the Contacts app. It is the most requested element and the tech maker has finally imposed it in the latest software upgrade.

Pronoun plays a significant role while writing content. People often include pronouns in email signatures and on social media. Though saving these details in the Contacts application requires manual operations which becomes time taking.

However, that’s not the case anymore. With iOS 17, Apple has introduced Pronoun Fields for the Contacts app. As of now, your pronoun preferences will be saved directly in the preset section without letting you create a separate field in the notes section.

Not only for other contact cards, but you can create pronoun preferences for your personal card as well. Further, it is possible to share these picks when you trade your contact cards with others. In addition, the manufacturer notes that this new feature is not just confined to being a basic text field, but also lets you choose from several languages.

On the flip side, the app now contains an explainer mode that describes how to use three forms of pronouns accurately. In case you are worried about privacy, then Apple has mentioned the refined policy for pronoun entries.

“Pronouns are only used on your devices by supported Apple apps. They are not shared with Apple or third-party developers.”

The feature is available in the developer’s beta for the moment. However, we may find it officially in the stable version by the end of July.
