Apple iOS 17 to add landscape and split-screen mode for bigger iPhones

iPhone fans can rejoice as they might see the ultimate landscape and split-screen mode with Apple iOS 17. That says a concept creator who showed what it would be like if the tech maker bring multitasking capabilities to its handsets.

Yes! Apple is speeding up the software development to unveil it in the grand WWDC 2023 event. Meanwhile, concept designers are bringing their imagination to how the upcoming iOS version will amplify the iPhone experience of consumers.

In the latest edition, a tipster named Basic Apple Guy appeared with a new concept, showing landscape mode and split-screen multitasking on iPhone, which probably may take place with the Apple iOS 17 upgrade.

To those who are unaware, iPhone 6-8 Plus devices are used to carry the landscape orientation option. Accordingly, it enabled the rotation of the elements up to 90-degree. The dock icons stay at the right in a vertical column. Whereas, others take the shape of six-icon-wide rows on the home screen.

However, after the addition of Notch and Dynamic Island, the ability got removed. Another reason was the preference of users who often declined the usage of landscape mode in their phones. But it looks like, it’s time to get back these previous features.

Speaking of which, the fresh concept shows widgets and app icons coexisting on the same screen as in portrait mode. The icon size is slightly smaller yet good enough to select and perform tasks conveniently. On the flip side, Live Activities in the Dynamic Island will be easier to operate in this mode.

Next comes the split-screen feature. Video overlays and multi-tasking will be more ideal than before. It will be efficient to expand a video while maintaining access and interactivity with the home screen. Moreover, these capabilities will be far better for iPhones with bigger screens.
