Apple iOS16 Beta Safari browser supports WebXR

In terms of web open standards, Apple is far behind its competitors. According to industry insiders, the company “has been dragging down Web AR innovation” because of Safari’s lack of support for the WebXR API. But with the arrival of iOS 16, that may change soon.

Apple released iOS 16, and iPadOS 16 systems, and has released the first developer preview Beta. The Safari browser will support web push notifications, extension synchronization, and more.

Moreover, the iOS16 Beta version already supports WebXR, a standard that provides support for AR augmented reality and VR virtual reality devices on websites. However, the current measurement shows that VR NOT FOUND is still in the state of semi-finished products.

Furthermore, Apple’s roadmap remains very “well-guarded,” the report said. As Apple develops its own mixed reality device, the company may finally officially enable the WebXR API in its mobile operating system sometime this year.
