Apple once again warns users about the impact of iPhone 12 and MagSafe accessories on medical devices

Apple has introduced the new MagSafe accessories with its latest iPhone 12 series. The MagSafe accessories can be attached to the compatible iPhone models for wireless charging support with the help of a magnet.

After the launch, the company itself made it clear that the MagSafe accessories may cause electromagnetic interference with medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators. As per the latest info, the company has now revealed some more points on this matter.

Apple recommends that users should keep more than a 6-inch distance in the medical equipment and the MagSafe chargers. The support document already mentioned the MagSafe accessories, however, the company also kept the focus specifically on the MagSafe charger and MagSafe Duo charger.

The US tech giant also mentioned that, since the iPhone 12 models have more magnets than the other iPhones, it will have more impact on the medical devices when comes closer.

This was the statement of Apple before for MagSafe chargers:

All MagSafe accessories (each sold separately) also contain magnets—and MagSafe Charger and MagSafe Duo Charger contain radios. These magnets and electromagnetic fields might interfere with medical devices.

Apple added more info related to the matter:

Medical devices such as implanted pacemakers and defibrillators might contain sensors that respond to magnets and radios when in close contact. To avoid any potential interactions with these devices, keep your iPhone and MagSafe accessories a safe distance away from your device (more than 6 inches / 15 cm apart or more than 12 inches / 30 cm apart if wirelessly charging). But consult with your physician and your device manufacturer for specific guidelines.
