Downgrades from iOS 12.5.1 for older iPhones is no longer possible as Apple closes iOS 12.5 system verification channel

iOS

Apple recently released the official version of iOS 12.5.1 with the version number 16H22. This update is applicable to older iPhone models that are not upgraded to iOS 14. This update does not add any major changes to the older iPhone despite a bug fix for the exposure notification function.

According to the latest report (Via – 9to5Mac), Apple stopped the signing of iOS 12.5 today. This means that users who have already upgraded can no longer downgrade from iOS 12.5.1 to iOS 12.5.

Although the iOS 12 has been released for more than two years, Apple still provides security updates for devices such as iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 (models released in 2014) because they cannot run iOS 13 or iOS 14. Earlier, Apple introduced iOS 12.5, which brought a COVID-19 exposure notification system to older iPhones.

For those users who have jailbroken devices, it is very common to revert to the old iOS build. Restoring iPhone or iPad to the previous iOS version is sometimes helpful for those users who encounter major bugs after upgrading to the latest version of iOS.
