Android 13 May 2023 security patch rolling for Google Pixel devices

It’s May 2023, and Google started rolling out an all-new security patch for Pixel devices. The latest software development lands on the Android 13 surface with a handful of fixes and improvements for the respective phones.

According to the inputs, the May 2023 security patch for Google Pixel devices resolves 18 security-related vulnerabilities in the device system (dated 2023-05-01). To be specific, these include 15 high and 1 moderate-level of issue. Meanwhile, there are fixes for two defects in the Google Play System Updates, existing in Project Mainline components.

On the flip side, the May 2023 patch dated 2023-05-05 fixes 29 vulnerabilities. The list comprises 28 high-level and 1 moderate-level of issue. Overall, the main aim of this patch is to protect the Pixel handsets from security threats and further enhance performance efficiency.

In addition to the mentioned refinements, the company has fixed two more issues in the hardware composer service and camera segment. Ahead, the functional updates count common benefits for all Pixel units.

Eventually, the patch fixes an issue that was occasionally causing lock screen user interface (UI) elements to overlap with the home screen launcher interface. Whereas, the patch particularly adds improvements for touch screen response for Pixel 7 Pro under certain conditions.

The latest patch is rolling out with the TQ2A.230505.002 build. While the carrier-locked models at T-Mobile & MNOs, Google Fi (US) can identify the firmware with .A1 suffix in version. (TQ2A.230505.002.A1)
