Micron announced world’s first 1.5 TB microSD Card with 176-Layer NAND Flash

Micron announced that it is providing customers with samples of the world’s largest capacity microSD card i400, with an unprecedented capacity of 1.5 TB, equipped with 176-layer 3D NAND, and designed for industrial-grade video security.

According to reports, the high capacity of 1.5TB can store videos for up to 4 months or 120 days locally, and the high capacity eliminates the need to continuously upload data to the cloud for storage. Officially, unlike most consumer-grade products on the market, the i400 is designed for video security environments with the following features:

  • Five years of high-quality continuous 24×7 recording.
  • Capable of simultaneously processing 4K video recording and up to 8 AI events per second, such as object detection and classification, such as license plate or facial recognition.
  • 2 million hours mean time for failure.

 At the beginning of this year, Micron Technology issued a document saying that it has shipped the world’s first 176-layer QLC (four-layer cell) NAND solid-state drive (SSD) in batches.

Micron’s groundbreaking new NAND technology is now available with the Micron 2400 SSD – the world’s first PCIe 4.0 client SSD based on 176-layer QLC.
