Google Pixel 7 will not feature soft-touch glass

Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro display leaks ahead of launch

Google Pixel 7 Pro will not feature the soft-touch glass – says the US tech maker. So far, the company has started implementing matte glass to its devices from the Pixel 3 lineup. It further got better on Pixel 4. Since the Pixel 6  series appeared with a glossy look on the rear side, now the company has decided not to continue with soft-touch glass anymore.

Google unveiled the first look and some features of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro at the I/O 2022 event. At that time, the company confirmed to apply the soft-touch glass on the backend of the device. However, a recently release tweet states that Google will no more implement such a feature on its Pixel 7 lineup. The manufacturer says that the Pixel 7 coming this fall will not feature a soft-touch glass (also known as a matte finish).

Up to this point, several companies have given space to this feature on their handset products. Tech giants such as Apple and Samsung’s flagship smartphones have shown the feature with full pride. However, Google doesn’t look interested to bring it out for its device at the moment.

On the flip side, we also have a point that the matte finish looks great with Hazel color which is the in-real color variant of the device. Hence, Google must think once more before taking this move.
