OnePlus 6 users facing issues with microphone after upgrading to OxygenOS 10.3.9

OnePlus 6 is one of the flagship phone from OnePlus that was launched back in May 2018 with some of the stunning features and upgrades over the previous OnePlus 5. With the OnePlus 6, the company introduced several new changes such as the notch, in-display fingerprint, and many other design improvements.

The OnePlus 6 devices are currently running on the older Android 10 OS and these are also eligible for the Android 11 based OxygenOS 11. While the company has not said anything about when it will release the latest version for these smartphones.

Meanwhile, OnePlus 6 smartphones have recently received a new update that installs February 2021 security update. While the users were hoping it to be the OxygenOS 11/Android 11. Apart from the security improvements, the latest 10.3.9 version update also comes with a bug with the microphone.

After getting troubled with the issue user has also reported on the forum. As per the issue, the users are not able to record voice during a call and also not able to record anything in the recording app. In addition, the Whatsapp voice feature is also affected, which is sending empty voices.

While the speaker mode during the call is perfectly working and the earphones are working fine too. It seems that this issue of causing trouble for a limited number of users and not every one of affected by this. The company has not yet said anything on this matter and we expect some fix to come soon.

In response to this issue, the other users have suggested to try clearing the cache from the recovery and also go for the OnePlus care app for further support. It is also unclear, as to whether it’s a hardware issue in the microphone or software related.
