Samsung Galaxy M12 launch set for April 29 in South Korea

Samsung announced on Monday that its Galaxy M12 cheap smartphones will be sold in South Korea this week. The technology giant plans to expand its mobile phone sales in South Korea by introducing more price-competitive models.

The company said that the Galaxy M12 will land on the local market through online sales channels on Wednesday and will be priced at 198,000 won (US$180). The Galaxy M12 has already been released in selected markets including Vietnam, India, and the United Kingdom.

The smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen is equipped with a quad rear camera setup, with a 48-megapixel (MP) main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. It has an 8MP camera on the front.

The phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 850 processor and provides 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which can be expanded to 1TB via a microSD card. The M12 is only black here, and it contains a 5,000mAh battery.

According to a survey by Counterpoint Research, a market research organization, Samsung held a dominant position in the Korean smartphone market last year, with 65% of the market, followed by Apple Inc. and 20% of LG.
