TSMC will begin manufacturing the 5nm A14 chip for this year’s iPhones in the Q2

According to a new report, TSMC will be the exclusive supplier of Apple’s A14 chip and it will begin manufacturing the 5nm A14 chip for this year’s iPhones in the second quarter.

Apple’s A12 and A13 chipset were shipped with a 7nm process. Most of the TSMC 5nm chips are taken by Apple, it is possible that the 2020 iPhones will be the first smartphone featuring the 5nm process.

The 5nm chip will be more power-efficient and faster compared to 7nm chip, as the transistors are physically closer together.

According to a new report, Apple is likely to launch 6 different iPhones in 2020 — 4 OLED and 2 LCD. Apple is also expected to introduce the iPhone SE 2, likely within the first 3 months of 2020.
