Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch its third generation of folding device, which could be the Mix Fold 3. However, the smartphone is tipped to feature a 50MP camera sensor. This new folding device could challenge other brands’ folding phones with its impressive features.

Recently, a famous blogger Digital Chat Station shared some information related to the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 the upcoming flagship device. To be mentioned, users will not have to wait much for this next foldable, as it’s tipped to be announced in the second half of the year.

As per the leaked information, the Mix Fold 3 will be equipped with more adequate camera capabilities like the 50MP quad camera setup. One of which is a periscope telephoto lens. Notably, this is going to be Xiaomi’s first folding screen model equipped with a periscope lens.

For a recall, the Xioami Mi Mix Fold 2 was equipped with an 8-megapixel 2x telephoto lens, equivalent to a 45mm focal length. In contrast, the periscope telephoto will bring a better optical zoom effect.

In addition to the periscope telephoto lens, the leak further reveals that the third generation of the folding device will provide two materials of plain leather and glass, and at the same time strengthen the anti-collision performance.

Instead of this, the leak didn’t reveal any other detail about the device. Thus, as per a previous report, the Mix Fold 3 will arrive with 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and offer 512 GB and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. However, we could get more information in the coming weeks.

Periscope lens

The working principle of the periscope telephoto lens is borrowed from the periscope, which changes the transmission line of light, folds the light path through the mirror, and then enters the camera sensor.

Therefore, the periscope telephoto sensor can be arranged horizontally in the fuselage, thereby shortening the linear distance between the sensor and the focal point, effectively reducing the thickness of the lens module, and preventing the lens of the phone from protruding seriously.
