Samsung and Google teamed up to build enhanced Wear OS for future wearables

As of now, Samsung’s wearable devices are running Tizen, which it developed, while other devices are equipped with Google’s Wear OS, which is more popular than Tizen. For a long time, there have been rumors that the company will abandon its Tizen OS and its future wearable devices, and they will run Wear OS.

Now, the South Korean technology giant has officially confirmed that after a long 7-year break, the upcoming Galaxy Watches will be equipped with Google’s Wear OS instead of Tizen. Surprisingly, Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 may highlight Wear OS at the top of One UI.

On the first day of I/O, Google officially announced the collaboration of its Wear OS and Samsung’s Tizen into a wearable combination platform. Therefore, the enhanced Wear OS will provide an excellent experience in all aspects, such as apps will start faster, longer battery life, watch faces, and better third-party app support.

After the perfect combination of Samsung and Google’s wearable platforms, users will be able to get more Galaxy watch applications. At the same time, the Galaxy watch supported by Wear OS will work perfectly with Android-based One UI.

It has not been confirmed, but Samsung may release Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 together with Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in July this year.
