Following the success of Age of Empires and Age of Empires II, Microsoft and Ensemble Studios have released the only game under the Age of Mythology brand. The project conquered the PC market in the US and Europe in 2002 and by 2006 had sold about 1 million copies.
The game quickly received a large expansion, Age of Mythology – The Titans, with 4 civilizations. Then it was forgotten for more than ten years, and only in 2014 the SkyBox Labs team created an updated version, and in 2016 added another DLC Tale of the Dragon, dedicated to the mythology of China.
World’s Edge creative director Adam Isgrin at a fan event assured that after Age of Empires IV, developers will remember the Age of Mythology brand. But the head did not specify whether this means another update or talking about a new game in the series.
