Google is rolling out two major updates to its ecosystem, bringing both increased artificial intelligence power and a fresh coat of paint to its mobile browser. The company has introduced new, clearer names for its paid AI services, now called “Google AI Pro” and “Google AI Ultra,” while simultaneously completing a visual refresh of the Chrome app on Android phones.

The previous ‘Google One AI Premium’ plan has been renamed to the snappier Google AI Pro, keeping the same price of $19.99 per month in the US. This tier unlocks a lot more capability for users. For instance, the Gemini app gets expanded access to the powerful 2.5 Pro model, allowing for many more daily prompts, image creations, and video generations through tools like Veo.

One of the biggest advantages is a massive increase in context window size—the amount of information the AI can remember and process at once—growing to the equivalent of 1,500 pages of text. AI Pro subscribers also get Gemini built right into Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, and Drive, plus access to Google Vids, an AI tool for making videos.

The plan includes the standard 2 terabytes of Google One cloud storage, better tools in Google Photos, and a premium level of service for Google Home devices that includes 30 days of event video history and smart alerts. For those who code, the plan also offers higher daily limits for coding assistants like Jules and Gemini Code Assist.

For users who need maximum power, Google has launched the new, higher-end Google AI Ultra tier for $249.99 per month. This plan dramatically increases daily limits for using the Gemini 2.5 Pro model and offers a massive 30 terabytes of storage. Ultra introduces the advanced “Deep Think” feature with an even larger context window, alongside an “Agent Mode” that uses the AI to manage complex, multi-step tasks across different platforms.

The plan upgrades the Google Home service further, providing 60 days of event history and 10 days of continuous 24/7 video recording, with the AI providing detailed descriptions of events. As an added benefit, it includes a YouTube Premium subscription. Both AI Pro and AI Ultra also use a new system of “AI Credits” for accessing creative tools like Flow, an AI filmmaking suite, and Whisk Animate, which turns images into short videos.

Separately, the Chrome browser for Android phones has finished rolling out its new look with version 141. The update is called the Material 3 Expressive (M3 Expressive) redesign. This change is subtle but gives the app a much more modern feel. When you tap the three-dot menu, key actions like the forward, refresh, and bookmark buttons are now placed inside distinct circular containers at the top, making them visually pop against the list of options.

In the Tab Grid view, the button to make a new tab is now styled inside a rounded square with a color that matches your phone’s theme. The small icons that switch between your regular tabs, Incognito mode, and Tab Groups also got their own nicely rounded boxes.

Although the new style is bolder, the size of the buttons and components hasn’t grown, keeping the app’s layout familiar and efficient. This redesign was pushed out to all users as a behind-the-scenes server update; if you haven’t seen the new look yet, simply restarting the app might trigger the change.

Samsung’s new three-way Folding phone faces real-world toughness tests

Samsung recently released its first-ever triple-folding phone, the Galaxy Z TriFold. While the device is a marvel of engineering, recent hands-on tests show it might not be as sturdy as the company’s more traditional folding phones. In a series of intense durability challenges, the TriFold struggled when pushed to its limits. Unlike the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which can handle quite a bit of pressure, the TriFold showed signs of damage relatively quickly.

One major test involved folding and unfolding the phone thousands of times. Samsung claims the device can survive 200,000 folds, but a live test by a group of tech reviewers showed the hinges starting to act up much sooner. One hinge began creaking after about 61,000 folds, and the second one followed at 121,000. By the time they hit roughly 145,000 folds, the hinges lost their “springiness,” making it hard for the phone to stay flat or close properly. While the screen itself kept working, the mechanical parts were clearly wearing out.

Beyond the folding tests, the phone also faced a “bend test” where it was forced in the wrong direction. Unfortunately, the TriFold didn’t survive this as well as previous models; the frame snapped and the screen pixels went dark with a reasonable amount of force. It seems that having more hinges and a thinner body makes the device more vulnerable to physical accidents.

Business-wise, Samsung isn’t too worried about these early hiccups or even the fact that they aren’t making much money on the TriFold right now. They view it as a “statement piece”—a way to show the world they can build technology that others can’t. The phone is only being sold in very small numbers, which helps keep it exclusive.

However, the company is feeling some pressure regarding its next big standard release, the Galaxy S26. With the costs of parts like processors and cameras going up, Samsung is looking for ways to keep prices fair for customers without losing money. While the TriFold is a cool look into the future, the success of their upcoming regular flagship phones is what really keeps the company steady. For now, the TriFold remains an impressive but delicate piece of tech for early adopters who are willing to be extra careful with it.
