A new leak claims HomePod ‘Mini’ coming soon, but no Second-Generation HomePod this year

Apple is expected to unveil a smaller low priced HomePod mini and it was a possibility for a second-generation HomePod to arrive along with it.  But leaker LOvetodream made it clear in its tweet claiming that there will be no ‘HomePod 2’ launching this year.

Apple recently announced its digital-only event to be set for October 13 which is expected to bring the new iPhone 12 series along with some other devices. These devices include two new home pods which are also rumored to be launch in the event.

Apple may continue to sell the current HomePod along with the smaller expected HomePod ‘Mini’ which is being rumored to arrive. The current HomePod has not proved to be a successful product for Apple in terms of sales. The main reason is the price of the device which is quite high as compared to the other competitors in the market.

The HomePod was launched in February 2018 with a price of $349 but later Apple reduced the price to $299 in April 2019. There are several competitors for the HomePod. This includes Amazon’s fourth-generation Echo and the recently announced Google Nest which comes with the same price tag of $90.

Apple may launch the HomePod Mini as a smaller version of its current HomePod at a low price. Apple is also making its HomePods more useful by adding more features to them such as Handoff support, multi-user voice detection, ambient sound, and multi-room audio.
