Airbus confirmed on Friday that it plans to increase production of the A320 to 65 a month by early 2024, one of the fastest increases in the company’s history, from about 50 a month by the end of the year.

Airbus Aircraft ProductionThe move comes as demand for the Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft family outstrips the Boeing 737 MAX, and both planemakers grapple with ongoing supply chain issues.

Despite supplier delays, Airbus is sticking to its goal of delivering 700 commercial jets this year. As of the end of September, Airbus has delivered 437 aircraft to customers, and 263 aircraft need to be delivered in the last three months of this year.
