Apple’s new Privacy Relay feature won’t be available in China

Apple has just held its Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday (7th June 2021) where it revealed about new Privacy Relay feature.

Moreover, this feature is the next step in the field of cybersecurity in which iPhone makers or the users’ network providers cannot see the online data used while surfing on the internet.

However, the Privacy Relay feature will not be available in China which is a major market for the company.

Also, this new function will also not be coming to the others regions such as Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Belarus, and even Uganda.

Why Privacy Relay feature won’t be available in China?

As per the report, Apple not launching the feature in the aforementioned countries is due to local laws as the use of VPN to access blocked websites in China is illegal.

Since the new Privacy Relay feature works in a similar manner, the brand could face trouble with the local authorities.

For example, back in 2017, Apple removed a number of VPN apps from its App Store to comply with the laws in the region.

Therefore to avoid such conditions, Apple decided not to launch the new Privacy Relay feature as a safe move for maintaining its goodwill in China as well as in the other mentioned countries.
