Samsung first launched the iris scanner on the Galaxy Note 7, later introduced in the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S9, and Galaxy Note 9. In 2019, Samsung removed the iris scanner from its recent flagship smartphone series; Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy S10.

You can use iris scanner for unlocking your device, for making payment using Samsung Pay, and Samsung Secure Folder. After One UI 2.0 beta, you can expect more apps compatible with the iris scanner authentication method – apps such as LastPass, Google Pay, and banking apps.

If you want to set up an iris scanner on your device, you can do this by heading into the Settings > Lock screen and security > Iris Scanner.

Note: This is only applicable for the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 series users running Android 10 and One UI 2.0 beta.
