The Rich Communication Service (RCS) delivers ads and other promotional messages to accelerate the business.  But, do you know why Google has taken this step? Well, according to Google, Indian businesses using RCS to deliver ads are in direct violation of the company’s policies.

Google’s statement:

We are aware that some businesses are abusing our anti-spam policies to send promotional messages to users in India. We are disabling this feature in India while we work with the industry to improve the experience for users.

To be mentioned, several users have reported that they are receiving multiple such types of messages every day. However, the senders were using labeled as a “Verified Business” in the Google Messages app. But, Google’s decision to disable the RCS Business Messaging in India was unprecedented.

The RCS Business Messaging feature is available across the world but it has never been exploited elsewhere and at least not to this degree. Further, the source added the problem needs to be addressed before businesses in other countries adopt the practice too.
