Indian entrepreneurs are partnering to bring an alternative to Google Play Store to boost the suite of Indian mobile applications and aims to reduce the monopoly of Google and Apple’s app stores.

According to a report from ET Now, the Center for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) will build India’s alternative to Google Play Store and provide a more developer’s cut compared to Google and Apple’s App Store.
“Android has a 97% market-share in India. So, we should intervene and handhold Indian startups, the store would not charge the 30% fee to host apps unlike Google or Apple.” told internal sources.
Moreover, the government is also planning to make phone makers mandatory to pre-install this app store alongside their own stock apps.
Android is the dominant mobile operating system around the globe and most of the smartphones currently operate Android. Additionally, Google packs these Android smartphones with its Play Store, which allows users to download additional mobile applications.
Most of the apps on the Play Store submitted by third-party developers in return Google takes over 30% of the total earning of the developer’s in-app earning. Both Google and Apple take almost the same developer cut, which is so high for app developers.
