Huawei P40 Pro beats iPhone 11 Pro Max and Galaxy Note 10+ to become new camera king on [Questionable] DXOMARK

DxOMark’s camera reviews are informative and well-researched. But those numbered scores are always questionable.

DxO’s overall scores are taken from an average of sub-scores for exposure and contrast, color autofocus, texture, noise, artifacts and stabilization.

Huawei P40 Pro is Huawei’s latest smartphone with Kirin 990 5G chipset, a 6.58-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with rounded edges, and a dual front camera.

At the camera test by DxOMark, the Huawei P40 Pro received 128 points. This score is also miles ahead of the 117 point score achieved by Apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max and Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10+ during their tests. DxOMark gave Huawei’s flagship a photo score of 140 and a video score of 105, with both scores being new records.

DxOMark also claims “the P40 Pro’s image results when shooting at night and in very low light are also better than for any other device we have tested, and its portrait mode’s bokeh simulation is among the very best we have seen.”

Huawei P40 Pro beats the Oppo Find X2 Pro and Mi Note 10 Pro by 4 points. It is also 12 points higher than its predecessor, the P30 Pro which scored 116.

Surprisingly, DxOMark makes a bold claim that the Huawei P40 Pro is the best device for recording video at the moment (meanwhile Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max and other tech reviewers are crying).

In terms of the front camera, the P40 Pro also achieves the highest score ever on DxOMark Selfie tests. It beats the Nova 6 5G‘s selfie camera by 3 points, achieved a total of 103 points (Sorry Pixel 4, we know you can take better portrait then anyone else).

Auther opinion: If you trust DxOMark, just get the Huawei P30 Pro, it can (comparably) still take good pictures and record videos. Don’t forget, it also has GMS. Or just wait for the Huawei P40 Pro+ camera review by DxOMark, I am sure it will get more points than P40 Pro, maybe 135 or 140, wait… could be 150?
