IDC estimates a total of 25.5 million printers, MFPs and copiers were sold in Q1, 2021

Specialists of the analytical company IDC have prepared a report, which summarizes data on sales of printers, MFPs, and copiers around the world in the last quarter.

Sales of “hardcopy devices” are said to have grown 19.3% year-on-year to 25.5 million units. In monetary terms, sales also increased, although not so much. More specifically, the growth was 10.8%. In total, printers, MFPs, and copiers were sold for $ 10.9 billion.

Growth was noted both in the segment of devices with laser printing principle and in the segment of inkjet devices. Supplies in quantitative terms increased by 3.6% and 37.0%, respectively.

HP remains the market leader. Its share increased over the year from 37.1% to 42.4%. In second place is Epson, whose share fell from 20.2% to 19.4%. Canon Group ranks third. The share of Canon Group for the year decreased from 20.2% to 18.5%. The top five also include Brother and Kyocera Group, holding 7.2% and 1.8% respectively.
