India premium smartphone shipment market Q2, 2020: OnePlus first, Samsung second, and Apple on third place

As per Counterpoint Research, OnePlus took first place in the market share of Q2, 2020 in India. While Samsung gets the second position and Apple is in third.

India’s smartphone shipments in the premium segment have declined by 32% YoY in Q2 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic but OnePlus regained the top position thanks to the OnePlus 8.

In Q2 2020, OnePlus is on the top in the Indian market by capturing 29% of the total market share. The Oneplus 8 series 5G along with a price cut on the OnePlus 7T series helped the brand in recapturing the top position. Oneplus smartphone features the solid build and design, larger battery capacity, and higher refresh rate with impressive Android UI (OxygenOS 10) which attracts consumer’s attention.

Samsung slipped to the second position with a slight margin of less than 1%, capturing almost 29% share. In this quarter, Galaxy A71 became the best selling smartphone and spotted in the top three models.

Apple gets third place in the overall premium segment and enjoyed a first place in the ultra-premium segment. The iPhone SE 2020 become the best selling smartphone and spotted in the top five models.

XiaomiOPPO and Vivo entered the ultra-premium segment with their 5G flagships Mi 10, Find X2 and X50 pro, respectively. The segment no longer remains an oligopoly of Samsung, Apple and OnePlus,’ the Counterpoint report stated.
