Instagram says it has fixed bug after thousands of users reported their accounts suspended

According to the report, Instagram said it had fixed a software bug that prevented thousands of users from accessing the photo-sharing platform for about eight hours and led to complaints of account closures.

“We’ve now resolved the bug – which caused people around the world to lose access to their accounts and caused some temporary changes in the number of followers,” Meta Platforms Inc.’s Instagram said in a tweet on Monday.

An Instagram spokesperson did not comment on the account suspension. Several Instagram users tweeted that they were being asked to provide email IDs and phone numbers to access the frozen accounts. There were more than 7,500 user reports on the outage tracking site Downdetector at mid-morning, the number of user reports dropped to nearly 500.
