LG Display 32″, 55″ LCD TV prices reached highest in 6 years

The survey results released by market research institutions on May 20 show that the price of LCD panels for TV and PC monitors has increased by 3-7% this month, exceeding market expectations. Specifically, the price of LG Display’s 32”/55” LCD panels reached the highest value in six years, and the price of 65” panels also reached the highest value in three years.

Not only that, the price of LCD panels for notebook computers has also reached the highest value in eight years. Such products account for up to 70% of LG display products, and their prices have increased by 5-7% recently.

Among them, the price of 17.3-inch notebook computer screens increased by 5% month-on-month, and the price of 19.5-inch panels reached the highest value in six years. The LCD panel inventory of distributors reached the lowest value in the second quarter of 2021, which indicates that product prices will continue to rise in the third quarter.

The research institutes predict that the price of LCD liquid crystal panels will increase by up to 17% in the second quarter of this year. In addition, LCD panels produced in China account for 55% of the global market. At present, major manufacturers have changed their previous strategy of low-price competition, and instead, tend to increase prices for profits.

In addition, the price of OLED panels for TVs continues to drop, which has prompted manufacturers to launch more and more OLED TVs. Foreign media said that LG produced more than 900,000 OLED TVs in the first quarter of this year, and its profit margin reached 10%, setting the highest value in the industry.
