[List] Honor phones that will receive software updates from Huawei (Launched before April 2021)

Huawei and Honor were separated last year to operate as two individual brands, but as Honor was a sub-brand of Huawei, there were several issues after the separation. The first and foremost was the software update rollout for its devices.

According to the latest info, Huawei will provide software support for its devices that were launched after April 1, 2021. And the devices that Honor launched after April 1, 2021, will be handled by the company itself. This piece of info brings more transparency to the software update rollout for the Honor users.

“We want to serve all our customers as well as possible throughout the product lifecycle. Owners of Honor devices released before April 1, 2021, will therefore receive full product support through Huawei. Honor phones released during Huawei’s ownership will also receive standard software and security updates, similar to similar Huawei models, ” says Joonas Nurmela, Huawei’s Chief Public Relations and Communications Manager.”

HarmonyOS for Honor devices

Just after the launch of HarmonyOS, Huawei started beta testing for its eligible devices including the Mate 40 and P40 phones. The company expanded the beta program for more Huawei devices. Further, the Honor devices were also included in the beta testing.

Huawei has taken the charge to upgrade the maximum number of devices to the new HarmonyOS 2. After the beta updates for the eligible Honor device, the company will then gradually release the stable version. While the beta program is currently limited to the Chinese market and soon it will be available for global users as well.
