Mate X2 will be the first to get HarmonyOS in April 2021, confirms Huawei

Huawei has applied for the registration of the “Hongmeng” trademark on February 2 which is displayed as “Trademark application in progress”. The international classification includes 38-communication services, 35-advertising sales, 42-website services, etc.

In 2019, the website of the State Intellectual Property and Trademark Office showed that Huawei has applied for the “Huawei Hongmeng” trademark, which is applicable to the 9th and 42nd categories. The application date is August 24, 2018.

In the online product launch conference held by Huawei on the evening of February 22, Yu Chengdong officially launched a new generation of folding screen mobile phone Huawei Mate X2. This product has a built-in Kirin 9000 chip, a double wedge design, and a periscope camera.

In Huawei’s 2019 Developer Conference, Huawei officially launched the Hongmeng OS/HarmonyOS system, which was first applied to smart screen products. At the Huawei Developers Conference in 2020, Yu Chengdong announced that Hongmeng OS will be released in December of that year. In 2021, Huawei smartphones will be fully upgraded to support Hongmeng 2.0.

At the press conference on 22, the company has also announced the latest progress of Hongmeng OS. Huawei’s executive director and CEO of Consumer Business, Yu Chengdong, said:

“Starting in April this year, Huawei’s flagship mobile phones can be upgraded to Hongmeng OS one after another, and the Huawei Mate X2 folding screen will be the first upgrade .”
