MediaTek to launch v9 64-bit instruction set chip at the end of the year

ARM finally abandoned the v8 architecture of nearly ten years this year, switched to the v9 64bit instruction set, and launched a new generation of public version CPU architecture based on v9 last week, including the ultra-large core Cortex-X2 and large Core Cortex-A710, small core Cortex-A510 and many other organizational structures.

At the Taipei Computer Show on May 31, ARM CEO Simon Segars publicly revealed that MediaTek is a long-term partner of Arm, shipping hundreds of millions of Arm chips every year, and will launch the first new product based on the Armv9 architecture before the end of the year.

MediaTek only stated that Armv9 will give the next generation of Dimensity 5G products new capabilities and a better experience.

It is said that the Armv9 architecture launched this year is Arm’s long-term investment and development, focusing on more energy-efficient and efficient technologies, further strengthening efficiency, information security, and ubiquitous AI applications, and laying the foundation for computing in various fields in the next ten years.

Simon Segars also emphasized security. He believes that the increase in ransomware and cybercrime incidents indicates that it is urgent to pay attention to information security.

Security is the main research area of Arm, and it is also the key direction Arm seeks to continuously strengthen. Most of the other aspects are commercial exchanges, so I won’t mention them this time.
