Mercedes-Benz upcoming luxurious pure electric ‘EQS’ trademark registered

A recent European trademark registration hints that the pure electric version of the Mercedes-Benz Grand G off-road vehicle is getting closer and closer.

the European Union Intellectual Property Office registered a trademark for the Mercedes-Benz EQG name. According to documents, Mercedes-Benz first filed a trademark application in 2016, and the current protection period for the name is 2026.

EQG confirms to the naming convention of Mercedes-Benz’s new electric models. All Mercedes-Benz electric models have the prefix “EQ” followed by a letter that corresponds to a current Mercedes-Benz gasoline model.

The EQC crossover has been put into production, and Mercedes-Benz also has EQS, EQE, EQA, and EQB models coming soon. Ola Källenius, CEO of Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, confirmed the release of an electric version of the Big G for the first time in a speech at the 2019 Berlin conference.

Moreover, there has been little follow-up news about this model since then, and the launch time is unknown. The Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan intends to begin production later this year.

Mercedes-Benz’s electric flagship, followed by the medium-sized EQE sedan that is expected to be unveiled later this year and start production in 2022. Mercedes-Benz will also start producing EQS and EQE SUV versions in Alabama from the end of 2022.
