Micron announced mass production of world’s first PCIe 4.0 SSD solid state drives

Micron Technology, a supplier of memory and storage solutions, today released a number of products, covering memory and storage products based on its 176-layer NAND and 1α (1-alpha) DRAM process.

These new products were released by Micron President and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra at the COMPUTEX 2021 keynote speech at the Taipei International Computer Show. Micron announced the mass production of its first PCIe 4.0 solid-state drives (SSDs) based on the world’s first 176-layer NAND.

Micron said that the latest solid-state drives Micron 3400 and Micron 2450 have the characteristics of flexible design, high performance, and low power consumption, and can support all-weather use from professional workstations to ultra-thin notebook applications.

Micron 3400 solid-state drive provides 2 times the read throughput, and the maximum write throughput is increased by 85%, which can meet the needs of real-time 3D rendering, computer-aided design (CAD), games, animation, and other applications.

Micron 2450 solid-state hard drives also provide three form factors, the smallest size is only 22x30mm M.2 specifications. According to reports, Micron 3400 and Micron 2450 have been included in the Intel Modern Standby Partner Portal Platform device list.
