Microsoft Edge browser Dev 109 released, improved sidebar and more

Microsoft released a new feature update to the Edge Dev channel, the version was upgraded to 109.0.1481.0, which brought a new switch including Internet Explorer mode and the option to open the sidebar game in a new tab, and several improvements to WebView2.

  • Added a toggle to open this page in Compatibility View to the Add Page prompt for Internet Explorer Mode pages.

  • Added open in new tab button to sidebar games.

WebView2

  • Added support for file upload in UWP

  • Added IDL validator tool.

  • Improved reliability.

Repair and improvement

  • Fixed autofill account selection menu not entering credentials.

  • Fixed browser crash on autofill dialogs when navigating to the cross button with the arrow keys or pressing the Tab or Shift + Delete keys when the focus is on the cross button.

  • Fixed browser crash when using Find Pages in the PDF browser.

  • Fixed a sidebar issue that caused the browser to crash.

  • Fixed browser crash when checking out a profile in a workspace.

  • Fixed a crash related to the sidebar.

  • Fixed a browser crash related to HDR video.

  • Fixed a crash when navigating to certain websites.

  • Fixed browser crash when clicking the performance button after closing the child mode window.

  • Fixed browser crash when entering or exiting full screen.

  • Fixed a crash related to recommended updates.

  • Fixed a browser crash related to supporting the home button.

  • Fixed a crash when interacting with visual search results.

iOS

  • Fixed browser crash on startup.

  • Fixed a browser crash related to notifications.

Android

  • Fixed browser crash when bold fonts are enabled in Android settings.

macOS

  • Fixed a browser crash related to account syncing.

WebView2

  • Fixed a crash when clicking on the thumbnail view on the taskbar and moving the focus to the WebView2 window.

  • Fixed visual hosting crash on Windows 10 1st Anniversary Update and earlier.

Users can download Microsoft Edge Dev from the official Edge Insider website. The browser is available on Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11), macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS (closed beta). Microsoft plans to release Edge 109 to the public the week of January 12, 2023.
