Microsoft recently hosted Build 2021 for developers, but the focus was not on the upcoming major operating system update at all. As it turns out, Microsoft deliberately postponed the announcement – it will be holding a special Windows event later this month.
Microsoft began sending out invitations to journalists for an event where it promises to talk about the “new generation of Windows.” It is scheduled for June 24, 2021.

Both Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Chief Product Officer Panos Panay will speak at the Windows event. The Microsoft Windows Event kicks off on June 24 at 11:00 am ET (6:00 pm ET).
A week earlier, Satya Nadella mentioned at Build 2021 about the upcoming announcement of the “next-generation Windows” that he is currently testing. The top manager emphasized that this will be one of the most significant Windows updates in the last decade.
