Smartphone sales declined 9% YoY in Q3 2021, Vivo tops and Honor rises to third spot

Yesterday, Counterpoint Research released the smartphones sales report for the third quarter of this year. The report says that China’s smartphone sales reached 76.5 million units in Q3 2021, a decrease of 9% year-on-year and an increase of 3% month-on-month.

According to the report, in the third quarter of 2021, Vivo ranked first with a 23% market share, OPPO ranked second with a 20% market share, whereas, Honor (15%) and Xiaomi (14%) ranked third and fourth respectively.

Counterpoint informed that Apple’s ranking will remain unchanged in the third quarter of 2021, but with the debut of the iPhone 13 series, it is expected to rise in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The report pointed out that Honor was the fastest-growing brand in the third quarter of 2021, with sales increasing by 96% month-on-month. Its market share increased from 7.7% in the second quarter of 2021 to 14.7% in the third quarter of 2021.

In addition, the sales of Vivo and OPPO increased by 21% and 26% respectively year-on-year. Among them, Vivo sales are mainly driven by Vivo S10/S10 Pro, Y31s, and Y52s, and OPPO sales are mainly pushed by OPPO Reno 6, OPPO A55, and OPPO A93.
