According to the latest news, after this loss, Sony is planning to rebuild its semiconductor strategy to overcome the impact of a sharp drop in Huawei’s image sensor orders. For that, the Japanese tech giant will try to expand its deal with other Chinese companies.

It will accelerate the development of high-resolution sensors to improve profitability along with expanding the automotive sensor business. Sony stopped supplying image sensors to Huawei in September last year as the US government backlisted Huawei and banned Sony to supply components. Though, Sony has later applied for a new license to supply back in the US.
Before the ban, Sony used to supply image sensors to Huawei. However, the demand for Sony’s image sensors is undoubtedly far from before. The US sanctions on Huawei have adversely affected its business. Seeking survival, the company can still make products such as Huawei FreeBuds 4, MateView monitor, MateBook, etc.
Sony Image Sensors already have huge demand
Other than Huawei, Sony already has a huge demand for its image sensors from the world’s top IT companies including Apple, Samsung, and many others. In every smartphone, you can see Sony lenses.
The upcoming iPhone 13 series and the previous iPhones too had Sony’s IMX sensors. Even when Samsung has its own ISOCELL image sensors, it uses Sony IMX in its flagships. Sony also gets its orders from Chinese companies such as Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, and others.
