Tesla’s first V3 super charging station launched in Shenzhen, China with 250kW power capacity

The first Tesla domestically produced V3 supercharger station went online today in Shenzhen Union Square. These domestically produced V3 supercharger piles came from the Shanghai supercharger pile factory that has just started production.

Tesla’s Shanghai Super Charging Pile Factory was officially completed and put into production on February 3, and it took less than half a year from the official establishment of the project in August 2020 to the official start of production.

It mainly produces the third-generation supercharging pile (V3). The project has an investment of about 42 million yuan, covers an area of nearly 5,000 square meters, integrates R&D and production, and initially plans to have an annual production capacity of 10,000 supercharging piles.

According to Tesla’s official introduction, the V3 charging pile can support up to 250kW peak charging power, which is more than double the V2 supercharging pile.

Take the Model 3 long battery life version as an example. Under peak power conditions, using the V3 supercharging pile for 5 minutes can travel about 120 kilometers. In an ideal state, the average user charging time can be reduced by about 50%.

It is reported that the number of supercharging stations opened by Tesla in China has exceeded 730, and the charging network covers more than 300 cities. In 2020, more than 410 Tesla superchargers were built in mainland China, including more than 180 Tesla V3 superchargers.
